Best Assassins Creed Games?

Assassins Creed: The Ezio Collection is a Remaster of the Original Ezio Trilogy Collection but with more content. This sounds amazing and on paper it is, AC 2, AC Brother Hood, AC Revelations and the 2 Bonus short films are the perfect collection for any AC fan especially of the older games. If you played these years ago like I did then you probably expect me to tell you this collection is a 10/10 amazing deal and well... not exactly. Though I think all 3 of these games were fantastic games from back in late 2000s, there is a lot wrong with this collection and these games. I’ll Explain, let’s start with the first part of the collection you are greeted with.

Assassin's Creed: Legacy (Short Movie) Back when AC2 was released they made a short live action film that's (I think) around roughly 40 minutes long. It’s about Ezio's father and a mission he's on before the events of AC2. Almost everyone Except Ezio is the Face and Mo cap actors from the game playing their characters on screen so this is obviously really cool. Though the film is short and more or less irrelevant to the main story of the trilogy it definitely gives Ezio's father and many of the characters some back story. It's very cool to see a true live action, in universe movie and makes me want real movies like this for all the games. This is honestly the best AC movie that's live action and probably will always be the best one. My only complaint about this movie in this collection is well, for one: you cannot pause this film at all or fast forward. If you touch your controller the entire film stops and restarts. This obviously sucks if you have to leave or go to the bathroom mid viewing so make sure you are ready to sit down for 40 mins before watching this. Two: The entire movies audio was lagged and off from the film so you'll be hearing dialogue a bit ahead of the events on the movie which would make this pretty un-watch able if it wasn't only 40 mins. Hopefully Ubisoft will fix this but let’s be honest probably not. 7/10

Assassins Creed 2: Gameplay: So I’ll be honest the gameplay is nothing to be super excited about. If at this point in time you've somehow only ever played AC1 I can tell you the combat picks up where that game left off but makes it slightly smoother and more fleshed out. You get a lot more weapons in this game and can buy them from a store, yes, this game has a money and store system (The first one in the series to have this), the first AC game to have a costume changing system as well. This is also the first time in the series we see a character with 2 hidden blades. All of these are very cool, fun and balanced changes that came after the first game but of course if you've played the newer games this is going to feel limiting and clunky as hell, For its time though this was a big step up.
Music, Voice Acting, Graphics: The graphics were never a huge strong point of the early AC games The environments always looked amazing but the characters and models weren't great. In this collection however the graphics on AC2 look absolutely horrid. This remaster graphically is a huge step down when it comes to people’s faces, animations and skin tone. I know when this collection first dropped it was getting made fun of and memed by the gaming community for this and Ubisoft did patch it, but it still looks like S***. The Voice acting is still great though and most of the characters give a very compelling performance. Same can be said for the music, absolutely breath taking, I mean the main song 'Ezio’s Family' has been reused in every single game since, for no reason, so that must say something right?
Story/ No Spoilers: The story for AC2 is pretty great and a huge step up from the first game. Basically, After the events of 1 Desmond Flees Ubstergo/ Templars only to go back into the animus to watch a new ancestor named Ezio an Italian Renaissance Assassin and one of the greatest. This first game focuses on his younger life and the very tragic story that he went through for many years. Ezio has a lot of depth and is very likable and fun to get to know. Everything about this AC game stepped up from 1 and added so much story, gameplay expansion and map to visit. 9/10

Assassins Creed: Brotherhood Gameplay: This game came out a year later to continue Ezio’s story. It's basically AC2, part 2 and follows up with Ezio at his prime and his attack on the Roman Templars. The gameplay again improves over the previous this time with one big map to explore instead of a bunch of single areas. The biggest problem with this game is the fact that they added in challenges to each sequence and if the player doesn't complete 80% of these challenges, they miss out on a side story of what happened to Ezio's love Christina. A great tragic side story and easily missed as I imagine most people won’t want to deal with challenges and replaying chapters just to get this right. The best part of this game is being able to recruit, train, call on in battle your own league of assassins and send them on missions.
Music, Voice acting, Graphics: The music in this game is some of my favorite in the series. I can’t mention this enough that the music in really all 3 of these games is breathtaking. The voice acting once again holds up to the first 2 games with great performances and the graphics on this remaster look pretty good.
Story/No spoilers: The story continues where AC2 left off Desmond explores the Auditore Vila in the present which was a main location of AC2 and in the story Ezio builds the brotherhood up and fights back against the Borga Templars and the pope. There's a lot to unpack in this story so I’ll leave it to you to play it and see what happens. 8.5/10

Assassins Creed: Revelations Gameplay: This is the 3rd and final part of the Ezio story, once again gameplay wise this was a huge step up from Brotherhood, I think this is the first time the combat actually got fun and more interesting. This game added in the hook blade that allows you to climb up buildings faster. As I'm sure you heard or know back in the day Ac revelations was considered the worst game so far for a few reasons, one of which is the fact that there are these tower defense missions that continuously pop up throughout the game and are well annoying and mostly not fun to play. Luckily you can get all the achievements for them in the first mission and there's a loop hole to avoiding these again after that.
Music/ Voice Acting/ Graphics: There's not much more I can say about the music other than it still is amazing and holds strong and the voice acting and the graphics are probably the best of the 3 games so far.
Story/ No Spoilers: Basically the story picks up out of the animus right after AC Brotherhood and Desmond’s in a coma in the animus. So, the out of animus story is still in the animus which honestly wasn't too amazing and interesting. Desmond is guided by a previous test subject stuck in the animus system and in animus we see middle aged Ezio watching memories of Altar from the first game and following in his footsteps while also stopping a templar plot in Constantinople. (Yeah, this game is like a memory inside a memory inside a memory inside the animus) This story has great moments and not so great moments which I think is also why some people hate this game. Personally, I think all 3 of these games aged like fine wine. 8/10
The only other Important thing I can say about all 3 of these games is the fact that you get all DLC from them included and for the most part they are just extra story missions for the main story, In revelations they are this knock off portal simulator puzzle game where you traverse levels listening to audio logs on random back story for everyone which is kinda weird and not amazing. This would have been better if this audio was just collectibles in game or extra cutscenes or something.

Assassins Creed Embers short movie: This animated movie follows a 40-minute adventure of Shao Jun, a Chinese assassin that appears later in the first part of the chronicle’s trilogy. She visits Ezio in Italy who is now an old man and at the end of the road. We get to see a very sad but bittersweet ending for his character and how he passes the torch to a new Assassin. This movie is ok but if you are a big fan of Ezio you might wanna check this out. This movie has the same issue of being unable to pause it just as the other did but the audio was fine. 7/10

Overall this trilogy has its problems, and you can tell "CutCornerbisoft" just did this to make a quick buck rather than make something special for the fans just like the AC3 remaster but I did thoroughly enjoy playing though it all again and would recommend this to any old school AC fan or anyone looking to Play these games for the first time. As long as you don't pay 60$ for this collection from anyone it's worth it.
8.5/10

Replayed 2, a previous favourite. I still do enjoy it but the rough edges (aka the terrible combat) really changed my perspective. So cool to have these on Switch now and beating the shit out of the Pope is still a delight.
