Good game from a great franchise but suffers from a story that seems to want to be more than it is. All that topped off with clunky controls and AI from your squadmates who will occasionally follow your orders. The gameplay is still decent and it's nice to have a WWII FPS that has a darker tone than most shooters in the genre. It's not as good as its predecessors (Earned in Blood being my favorite), but still worth a playthrough.
This series deserves a remake or two, or at least an HD remaster of the first two titles.

Do you guys remember the ads for this with the sexy lady on the radio with the lipstick? Well she's not in the game so that was a let down.

A good game, but after having played the two previous entries in the series, I expected a bit more.

It's strange that with the third game in the series, the tactical aspect of the gameplay remained the same. The squad controls are still extremely basic with only the move and suppress commands. It's a shame they didn't do more here, since it would've helped the repetitive gameplay. On a positive note your squadmates are far less prone to dying compared to the previous games.

Most noticeable improvement over the previous games is the gunplay and the addition of a proper cover mechanic. The cover works similar Rainbow Six Vegas, which fits here really nicely. Also the insane weapon sway and inaccuracy is gone from the older games.

This series always got praise for its narrative, but unfortunately this one has the weakest one. There's an overreliance on an event from Road To Hill 30, but it doesn't really matter in the end. It also doesn't help that the new characters are quite boring and don't offer much to the overall narrative.

Hell's Highway is by no means a bad game and it's still worth experiencing the entire series.

The mechanics are quite basic but serviceable. They keep you engaged even though, by today's standards, some things feel stiff. The story is better than average and the graphics hold up.
Blowing up covers with grenades or your RPG-Squad never gets old, especially if you get the brutal slow-mo-animation. The hit-scanning, however, is frustrating and the game can't hide the fact that it does the same thing over and over for around five hours.

Much of this has aged like milk, both visually and regarding design. The story is boring and completely up its own ass. The whole thing is pretty damn short and very repetitive. They end with a "To be continued..." - the absolute gall.

Also they forgot to animate Matt Baker's mouth when he yells out squad commands when in the 3rd person. Did they have to rush this out the door, or what?
