Classic Bubble Bobble is a disappointment. I was kind of excited to try this game because I casually enjoy the original Bubble Bobble, but this is kind of a mess. Firstly, controlling my character is rather uncomfortable. I can't really fix my jumps much and often I end up not jumping nearly as far as I had hoped.

This wouldn't be too much of an issue if I could see the entire board though. Considering this is a game boy title, I understand not being able to see the whole screen, but I'm surprised there was no consideration of this drawback, as sprites are pretty large, leaving me with less time to react to enemies careening onto the screen to kill me. Additionally, your character is positioned at the bottom of the screen pretty much at all times, so if something is coming up to get you or you're about to land on something, you won't be able to react in time. That was the cause of 95% of my deaths.

This screen issue also largely effects the bosses in this game. Often they bounce around the entire map, and because of this you have very little idea as to where they could be. Often, when the bosses sped up, I would be killed time after time by the boss suddenly crashing into me. It wasn't very fun at all. I felt like most of my deaths were not the result of a lack of skill but rather just the game being poorly designed.

I think the final nail in the coffin was the soundtrack. I don't know if this was just my Advance SP, but the music often sounded kind of tinny. This hasn't been much of an issue with any other games I have, so I feel like it's just this one. Needless to say, it was really annoying, and it drove me insane. The saving grace of this being that the game is rather short, with me finishing it in about 2 hours max.

I don't recommend this one. If you want a Bubble Bobble mobile experience, I'm sure you can find something much much better.

This game I feel like barely functions

How did they fuck up Bubble Bobble on the Game Boy Color when they did a much better job with it on the original Game Boy????
