Let’s get 2 things out of the way. My review is based on the 13 hours I spent on the demo. It has enough content to give you a good idea of what to expect and the demo often gets updated too. Second, my perspective is of someone who likes the idea of farming games but often has difficulties sticking with them, or at least most of the ones I tried.

At first I was ready to dismiss Cornucopia. The start felt pretty typical and I felt overwhelmed by the amount of options and collectibles. I was also missing the option to save anywhere. It was holding me back from playing the way I want. My thoughts changed the more I played. The intro is not great at showing you the game’s charm right away, the options/collectibles appear overwhelming at first but they make sense to the point of feeling natural after a while. As for saving, this was quickly patched so I didn’t have to deal with it.

Here are the main points that made me a fan:
-Freedom: you don’t have to sleep, you don’t have to feed your animals specific food etc
-Pets are helpful: they fight with you, they help you with farming, you can mount them to move quickly. I normally don’t care about animals in farming games but their involvement like this creates strong bonds
-The writing: I normally don’t care about dialogue this much or care about romance options because they tend to be predictable and boring. Here it’s relatable and hilarious at the same time. It’s an accomplishment to make me want more and be upset when some NPC tell me ‘I have nothing to say in the demo’
-Original ideas: the card system adds some fun randomness and fishing is turned into a mini game. Although I haven’t had the opportunity to try out cooking or play games at the arcade, I did see some footage and I really like what I’m seeing
-Great controls: I’m not a mouse and keyboard person but I can’t imagine playing this game any other way. It feels so good and satisfying. It’s hard to put into words why. It took some time to get used to it but it didn’t take long
-Bestiary: there are a lot of objects recorded through different lists. The OCD in me is very happy. But I’m also greedy and always want MOAR
-Quality of life options: the game is truly a pleasant experience and it respects your time. If your backpack is full, stuff is added to your storage automatically. You can send items from your backpack to your storage no matter where you are, you have extensive options to change the camera perspective through key combinations, tools have skills to make farming a better experience right away etc

Are there some flaws? Of course! Certain things need to get fleshed out or added, the dungeon and fights are the weakest elements imo and I heard the controller support is far from stellar. But you know what? I’m confident all of it will be improved and we’ll get even more out of the game. I’m not saying this because the game is in early access. I’m saying this because of the dedication I have seen from the developer. We’ve had more than 28 updates in 2 months, most of the bugs are fixed after they are reported in the next patch and the willingness to listen to the community by adding requested features is truly remarkable. With this developer, I really believe the sky is the limit. I’ve also had a great experience with the community. There are members working on the game’s wiki already and there’s always someone helping others with questions.

If it isn’t clear, Cornucopia is a must play for farming fans or even ones who show interest in the genre (like me). It’s understandable to wait until it’s out of early access but don’t lose sight of it. It’s perfectly playable now and it can only get better. You can expect a game that will proudly stand next to the best the genre has to offer in its own unique way once it’s complete. I’m also very grateful for the demo and the support it’s still receiving. I wouldn’t have given the game a chance without it.

It's a game that has a lot of potential to be good if the devs keep working on it, but it's not good right now. There's so much wrong here..

There's a million items and by the time you ever figure out what to do with anything, your bag is completely full. There's only a single chest where everything goes, no filters.

The characters are.. bland, even when you talk to them, you get no real idea about their personalities. I talked to a few people for the first time and before they said anything about themselves, they just complained about another NPC and walked away.

You can't view tutorials more than once, so try to screenshot everything. The town isn't really a town, everything is in a straight line along a river and some things are a pretty far, slow walk. I have no idea where to get items I really need, like hay for my animals.

When you shop at the store, you can only buy the limited amounts on the shelf. For example, I tried to buy potato seeds. You also have no idea how long seeds take to grow until after you buy it. I got 8 and it disappeared from the shelf. So I guess the limit is 8 a day? Same with bait. You can only buy one of each every day. What am I going to do with one bait?

In order to upgrade my farm, I need items that I've never seen before. I have no idea how to get them, even after about 20 hours of playing, and no one will tell me. I can't check the wiki, either, because it's completely empty.

They gave me a torch as a starting weapon, but no clue where to get any new ones. They don't tell you anything. If you're trying to find a certain NPC, good luck. The map doesn't tell you where they live at all and everyone just kind of wanders around everywhere. The town is so big that it's a gamble if you find them or not, really.

There's just a lot wrong with the game right now, I don't recommend it at all until it's updated a little more.
