I heard today about Diceomancer and I was directly hooked due to the drawn like artstyle. It's still in the demo since February this year, so you can't expect much right? Well that's not true actually. Sure, the game is still in his demo, but you can already see a lot of that game.

It has 5 types of card (green, red, blue, purple and grey) and you already have access to 4 out of the 5 (green isn't available in the demo) and every type has it's own unique ability. Personally I prefer the red type, cause it's mostly damage based.

The gameplay is easy to learn. On the first look, it's based on "Slay the Spire". In other words, you got a mana bar and cards which cost mana to play them. But there is tiny difference between that game and STS. You got 5 different orbs based on the colours I mentioned earlier. You can change the grey mana orbs into another colour by sacrificing a card with that specific colour you need. This gives a deeper gameplay option to the game than in STS.

The map/overworld is probably inspired by "FTL: Faster than light". This means that you have to navigate through a map with a few options, such as battle, shop, upgrades, etc., but you got a purple mist that follows you and it slowly consumes the map and gives no chance of returning to previous levels. You really have to go forward, equal to FTL.

The enemies are mostly basic and some of them are more special. You can fight against crows, geese and pigs. But you also can fight a scarecrow, a giant pig king or (my favourite) a goblin with an AK-47. Every enemy has it's own little description, which makes the battle a bit more charming. Even the cards are based on some references. One of my favourite cards is the "It's just a scratch"-card, which shows the black knight from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".

Overall it's a beautiful game with some nice little references and a lot of charme. I will surely play more of the demo to discover more cards and enemies. Once the full game releases, I will buy it without a doubt. I'm really looking forward to it and can recommend everybody to play at least the demo version. Diceomancer has good potential and I'm willing to give it a higher score once the full game is released.

Played the Demo, very good potential
