Very unique in some ways, but unfortunately painfully dull in others.

In Doomblade, you navigate a brutally hellish world, mainly attacking and getting around by clicking on enemies which sends your character hurdling towards them with their oversized sword. This creates many interesting approaches to enemy, boss, and level design which shake up the familiar formula of metroidvanias.

However, there are many aspects of that formula that lead to some very boring gameplay segments. I know backtracking is a staple in this genre, but I found myself wandering around way too much for my liking trying to find where a newly acquired upgrade was actually applicable to progress. I don't know if it was the map, the not-often-helpful fast travel system, or just the sheer size of the world but things ground to a halt too often for my liking.

Still overall a recommendation to metroidvania fans who are looking for something a bit different, but I'd say to pass on going for 100%.
