Dragon Shadow Spell is a strategy RPG from Flight Plan, better known as the developers of the Summon Night games until they went bankrupt in 2010. Dragon Shadow Spell was their first attempt at self-publishing a game, and I have long wanted to see what else Flight Plan could come up with apart from Summon Night

Wasn't as good as I expected it to be, but still enjoyed it.
The biggest issue here was definitely the story, most of the dialogue is one exposition dump after the other, yet the more important plot points either don't get explained until the last chapters, or are just left with little to no explanation. Furthermore, the sheer amount of characters and factions involved makes it too easy to lose focus, so you're left with a bit of dissatisfaction with how certain subplots haven't been given good enough closure.
Everything else is solid however. Gameplay is very well balanced but at the same time not as exciting as the other Flight-Plan SRPGs. The characters are easily the best part of the game especially the antagonists, not just design-wise but also personality-wise, with each having a unique background that ties up perfectly to their attitude and views towards the world, and getting to see all that unfold is what made me invested in the game the most. But due to the aforementioned story problems, characters tend to lose relevance 2-3 chapters after they get introduced that they get about 2 lines of dialogue every chapter after.
