Generally good, but falls flat in the latter half of the game.

The beginning is a bit context-less, as you wake up from a blackout from getting drunk. It kinda makes sense, then you go about trying to find out what happened. For the first half of the game, the puzzles were ok, I was able to figure out stuff on my own but the second half is kind of a doozy. There were a few puzzles that had me scratching my head even after I gave up and looked at the solution. It kinda made me want to play with a guide at the ready in the background just in case there were any more of those curveballs.

Another thing I was not a big fan of is how interesting the beginning part of the story is but then it goes off the rails afterwards. I really wanted to know what happened to Leo at the beginning. But the game turns to [SPOILER] supernatural occurences and portals and an "afterlife" that nets you a bad ending if you don't know what you're doing. From the setting up of the plot within the game, I had thought it was gonna be a mystery that's grounded in realism for the most part.
I had felt quite let down by this decision.

There were some portions of the game that try to put emphasis on social commentary, and while there's nothing wrong with it in itself, it can be easily mishandled and sound condescending or out of place. Unfortunately, there were moments like that in the game.

Other than that, the music and artwork is gorgeous and atmospheric, and really sells the feel of the locations. Really nice spritework.
This is the strongest aspect of the game, in my eyes.

Ultimately, I can't really bash this title too hard. It does what it sets out to do, and it does it to a decent degree, while being a free title, although the sudden twist in themes and tone soured the whole experience for me.
