It's strange feeling a sense of nostalgia for the early smartphone days of weird, experimental apps, where no developer knew what to do with the device yet. In a sense, EPOCH. reminds me of those days. This is a game that came out while I was still in high school and at the time I would have been trawling the iOS app store for games to play during class. Under a modern lens, EPOCH. is just not good at all. It's crammed with in-app purchases despite being a paid app. Its gameplay consists of barely interacting, mostly just watching as your robot shoots at other robots. It feels like a weird attempt to adapt a lightgun shooter to mobile. The game also forces you to play on Easy difficulty prior to Normal, Normal prior to Hard, and so forth. I was bored during this game, but it was fun to reminisce on those early app store days.
