Around 1520 we take on the role of a Spanish Conquistador in South America. By selecting members of your expedition, we can explore campaign maps based on real topological maps of Hispaniola and Mexico. Through intricately branching dialog, we're very engaged with the characters and situations you encounter in these unexplored areas, and as for the combat mechanics, the game allows you to control your individual troops through a deep and brutal tactical combat system.
The combat system is detailed and failure has huge consequences. Each expedition member has a face, a history, a set of personality traits and of course a combat role, plus their morale will change depending on your decisions, as you weigh your options and if they fall in battle. Their injuries will be transported to the world map and they will need to be treated by your doctors until they heal again. If you don't treat your expedition members, they will die and disappear forever.
Choice and consequence are at the center of Conquistador's gameplay experience. As the leader of the expedition, you will face difficult decisions about the use of your troops and resources, and how to engage with the factions of the savage New World. Will you defy history and become a diplomatic peacemaker, or will you become a ruthless Conquistador determined to lay the entire Aztec Empire at your feet? The game has an average of 30 hours of gameplay.
