This is a Racing Simulator game from 1991, released for the Mega Drive only in Japan. One of the first RaceSim games released for consoles…And it’s not very good. In fact it’s straight up bad sometimes.
The controls are “realistic” and “made to simulate a real life formula 1 car”, in other words, the controls are stiff, uncomfortable to use and it’s impossible to not crash without almost stopping your car. Which is true in formula 1, but i don’t know why this would make it a good gaming mechanic?.
The music is pretty generic but not bad, albeit now i can’t listen to music anymore, since the sound effects of the car made me deaf. You have to qualify for the race, in a time that is extremely thin and almost impossible to achieve, and if you fail, you don’t just move to the next race. NO. You have to watch the 8 computer drivers race, without you, for 8 laps and 10 to 12 minutes, and no, you can’t skip it, because you can’t skip in real life, so why you should do here, i mean, it’s not like this is a VIDEO GAME or something.
I have nothing really positive to say about it. The music is alright, albeit a little generic, some of the mechanics are very cool in theory (albeit in practice it’s another thing completely different), and it’s pretty innovative for the time, it’s a nice oddity that is always cool to check out especially if you’re a motorsports and RaceSim fan… ehh…the controls get a little easier to use…when you get used to them……The box art is fine, i guess??
Other than that, this game is a no, it has terrible sound, ugly graphics, it’s just not fun at all to play. This game has been forgotten by the time, and honestly it should stay that way, it’s not the worst game ever but i don’t recommend it unless you’re curious to play old Racing Simulator games.
