Gex did not live up to the hype

Mostly great sprite work, not so great animation. You could do worse for a 1994 platformer; you could do way worse for a game released on the 3DO.

This game would greatly benefit from being able to look down.

Also Gex will not stop talking.

Still the best game of the trilogy.

The first part Gex is a kind of parody of platformers that came out during that period of time, but with one condition - it is a 2D game. Relatively speaking, the game gives the player lives, but then maliciously takes them away from you; at the end of the game, the difficulty increases quite strongly. As a one-time game, the game will work for fans of the Hex universe, but it doesn’t have much charm.
