Gris is a hopeful young girl lost in her own world, dealing with a painful experience in her life. Her journey through sorrow is manifested in her dress, which grants new abilities to better navigate her faded reality. As the story unfolds, Gris will grow emotionally and see her world in a different way, revealing new paths to explore using her new abilities. Gris is a serene and evocative experience, free of danger, frustration or death. Players will explore a meticulously designed world brought to life with delicate art, detailed animation, and an elegant original score. Through the game light puzzles, platforming sequences, and optional skill-based challenges will reveal themselves as more of Gris’s world becomes accessible.

Okay, so this is a game that is just reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaally special to me. Although maybe its exploration of grief is not entirely new, I found the music and the art gave me such a unique and transcendent experience that I just didn't care. A game that I play through almost every year.

Man…I complete only three games in nine months of owning my PS5; I leave to India for ten days during which my experience is the exact opposite of that provided by modern American divertive comforts; I travel 30 hours straight (directly following a very long day at the Taj Mahal) and I come home looking to relax by enjoying some of those divertive enjoyments and manage to complete two of the games in less than a half hour of play. I knew I was close, but not that close!

This is a beautiful game to look at and the emotive power of its metaphors is quite striking, even if it is one that didn’t keep me super engaged. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about games that minimize or eliminate conflict, but I do appreciate what this game was going for.

Completed in 9 hours of play.
