[Main Story]
**
I played the first volume and I confess that I found this second volume much more interesting, for the simple reason that there is more drama and feelings in the mix. Of the various candidates that the game offers, only a few interested me. The fact of being vocalized gives a more interesting touch to the Visual Novel where there are several endings depending on the choices that are made throughout the game. If you’re curious to try a visual novel, I don’t think you’ll regret it with this one.

bu da kyoto winds'in devamı işte depresyona girme eranız burada başlıyor çünkü shinsengumi'nin hayatı kayıyor doğru düzgün adam kalmıyor. olsun sonları sevdiğiniz kişiyle çok romantik sahnelerle bitiyor. güzeldir. oynayın.

an otome classic in every way. but GOD i wish there was a senhime route

as for a personal ranking of routes, i'd say souma > the original love interests including kazama > yamazaki > the new routes which basically translates into "i think the original routes were better in general and the new routes definitely felt like a disjunct in quality but i just liked souma so much and i thought yamazaki was a lovely person"

i ended this with yukimura and while it was probably the best choice narratively, it made me very sad and i wish i got it out of the way earlier and did souma or like. kazama last or something. just so i could have something to smile about

terrible at writing reviews so here r brief thoughts on every route (romance only bc yukimura route was essentially a summary that ended in sadness)

hijikata - one of the few exceptions to my poster boy indifference (i liked him)
okita - WOW i love you
saito - I love him too
heisuke - objectively like the best. probably
harada - i love him but i hate the choices u make to get his good ending
nagakura - i think the hakuoki writers hated him
sanan - the hakuoki writers loved him. in this case, it was me who hated him
yamazaki - he is so nice and sweet and nice and just a swell guy
iba - i liked him when i was playing his route i guess but after it ended it felt like waking up from hypnosis. He's ok
souma - of course the one character i actually genunely wanted to pursue and loved from the beginning is the one with the route in which everyone fucking dies
sakamoto - i was bored until i realized the writers probably shipped him with his boy best friend (nakaoka) and probably could not bring themselves to write him real chemistry with chizuru. they should've just let him have his high stakes tragic love story with him and given chizuru a shiranui route instead ( i love shiranui)
kazama - i went in ready to be a hater but i genuinely liked his route soooo much i didn't rank the og routes but if i did he'd probably be at the top
senhime - there is no senhime route but for most of the other routes i was just sitting there consumed in a longing for senhime route she is to me what tomoda is to nozaki and mikorin in gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun SHE JUST MAKES SENSE SHE WAS AT CHIZURU'S SIDE THE WHOLE TIME!!!!!! SHE WAS DOING EVERYTHING FOR HER!!!!!!!!! Senhime you are seen and heard in my mind. And i love you. And i'm sorry

Overall, this is a pleasant continuation of Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds, and features at the forefront of its gameplay all the romantic aspects missed in the first part (ง◔ ε ◔)ง.

Disclaimer: Play Kyoto Winds before this game!

Pros:
✓ As a sucker for the more romance-forward Otome Games, Edo Blossoms finally delivers on that front! While Kyoto Winds was more focused around the historical storytelling, I think this game really narrows down on the romantic factor.
✓ One of my main gripes with Kyoto Winds was the amount of repetition (at the beginning) between routes. That has been resolved in this game. You start the game well-intertwined with your love interest of choice, and things immediately diverge.
✓ Once again, the Voice Acting is S-tier.
✓ Beautiful visuals and CG's.
✓ Soundtrack is amazing.
✓ I honestly still found a lot to love with the story. It picks up quite fast and keeps you engaged.

Cons:
✕ I honestly hate that Chizuru's only contribution to her lover in this game is the offering of her blood. There is LITERALLY no other meaningful action she provides in anyone's route. It drives me crazy that her only use is either "To Offer" or "To Not Offer". As if she wasn't a brainless zombie enough in the first game, Edo Blossoms takes that to a whole new level.
✕ This game feels a LOT shorter than the first. Honestly, I've played the same amount of routes as in Kyoto Winds but here I've clocked around 7 total hours and there I've clocked around 20. It definitely just feels like the routes fly by so quickly.
✕ Need a route for Trashy Takeda. Iba's route was not enough to deter me from him lmaooo.
✕ Some of the endings feel slightly rushed. I honestly wished the pacing of the plot was slower so the endings could have some more weight to them.

One final note to make is that if you can, buy Kyoto Winds and Edo Blossoms together. I found the most ideal way to experience each character was to do their route in the first game, then immediately continue it in Edo Blossoms since it picks up right after the ending in Kyoto Winds.
