Play as one of six epic heroes, summon troops, sling spells, and destroy enemy towers to achieve victory in this exciting head-to-head castle defense game. Players can enjoy single-player adventures with three campaigns filled with campy storytelling, sweeping musical scores, and hand-crafted environments. Or they can dive into fast-paced battles with friends and family in competitive 1v1 or 2v2 matches. Players can build custom decks and upgrade cards to create monstrous combinations of troops and spells as they aim to defeat their opponents, destroy the Soul Gem that gives them power, and move to the top of the leaderboards.

The game is described as MOBA, the kind of games I’m not familiar with. I enjoyed my time with this one and completed all the 3 campaigns once. Don’t be intimidated with the thought of 3 campaigns, they feel shorter than 2 hours each. They feel like one campaign that has been divided so you can select the character you can control. The story also continues or happens at the same time with each campaign. You have to do them in order as the rest are locked until you finish the previous one.

I’ve tried 3 of the 6 characters and all 3 feel different and are fun to control. The basic gameplay of selecting cards is the same but each character has a different set of cards that changes the gameplay a lot. You unlock new ones that you can upgrade with the coins you earn. The main characters also level up with the XP earned through various means. There is a simple world map you walk through to select your missions. You can also do optional missions or fight random enemies if you want more XP or coins.

The story is typical and not the reason to play the game but the dialogue can be funny and charming. It was entertaining enough and I liked some of the music. The graphics are fine too.

You can select 4-5 difficulty modes. The normal mode I took felt slightly easy. It’s smooth sailing for the most part. The game is focused on multiplayer but I didn’t give that a try. The solo content is like fastfood comfort that is entertaining enough but it won’t blow your socks off AND you don’t have to play it. It feels like a good introduction and I’m sure multiplayer fans will get more out of this game. Overall it’s a good effort and enjoyable for solo players. It’s worth playing through Apple Arcade or get the game on the cheap if you’re curious.
