How to Survive 2 is a fun zombie survival game, especially if you're into crafting and base building. It's got a lighthearted vibe and the co-op mode is a blast with friends. That said, the quests can get seriously repetitive, the combat is pretty basic, and the story won't blow your mind. If you enjoy scavenging, micromanaging your camp, and taking down hordes of the undead, it's a decent time.

I remember liking the first one well enough, despite its jank, but this one is just supremely boring. Every map is the same except maybe rotated a little, I have no idea why the homebase map is as large as some games are in their entirety with pointless marathons between quest givers, I never know where to go in a given mission and exploration isn't fun because loot is so scarce, the pasted maps and repetition kick in after just an hour or two of play and to top it all off, this game has the worst UI I've seen in modern day. Have to actually drag a cursor around on a PS4. It's too bad, because I do still quite enjoy this series' aiming mechanic and I always love a good scavenging and crafting game, but this most assuredly ain't it. All of a sudden, as maybe the 15th or so mission started and I recognized the opening area of said mission to be a pasted part of the home base map, it just dawned on me that this game isn't at all fun and I quit out. Funny how it sometimes takes an hour or two for you to realize that you haven't been having fun this whole time.
