Shelved for now, this is a review of the public 2nd build of Khemia

If Interea delivered more of Adastran politics and the Parental questioning that i wanted, Khemia delivers on all fronts and more. I can see why Howly wants to rewrite Khemia and change things up after Arches, though, because wow there's a lot of similarities that I can already see. It's definitely interesting seeing it from a more broken and fragile-though-sound mound too, especially one that was fully invested and led by propoganda and toxicity of Wolven society and such, so I'd still like to see all that happen in the end, but I still really am for a different direction as well. Khemia's delivering more of Neferu and Khemian politics, and seeing the clash and healing aspects already working their way through Scipio's story is really, really good. Also Scipio is a way better character than Marco, I think. Levels of Chase from Echo.

Also Khemia's score by Anthemics is fucking incredible and I cannot stop listening to it.

And like Interea, no rating until it's completed! Hopefully it's more sooner rather than later, although this and Interea are confirmed to have future builds planned for this year. Woohoo!

Really enjoyed what admittedly little was available here! Much darker in tone compared to Adastra mostly thanks to a far more distinctly defined protagonist here. Unlike Adastra which made you self-insert yourself into the story, Scipio has his own history and personality that makes for a much more interesting read. Also extra props to the genuinely fantastic OST from Anthemics which you really should give a listen to even if you don't actually play this game; Aquatic and Yearning are my personal favorites. Knowing that they're working on the soundtrack for Arches only increases my excitement for that title after hearing their work in this.

Khemia is also extremely unfinished and has been on hold for over a year at this point, but there's been really recent news that this is going back in development since Arches is nearly finished at time of writing this. Very intrigued on where this will go in the future and will be keeping a close eye on it.
