Legends of Wrestling II

released on Nov 26, 2002

Legends of Wrestling II is the sequel to the professional wrestling video game Legends of Wrestling. It was published by Acclaim Entertainment and released on November 26, 2002 for both the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube. It was then released later for the Xbox on December 5, 2002. Legends II contains 24 wrestlers that were not in the first game, though also excludes Rob Van Dam, presumably because he had recently been signed to a WWF contract. The game did contain Eddie Guerrero, however, who, although unemployed at the time he signed a likeness deal, re-signed with WWF when the game was released. The PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions included video interviews with many of the legends featured in the game while the European version of the game exclusively included four legends from the United Kingdom: Kendo Nagasaki, Big Daddy, Mick McManus and Giant Haystacks.

Legends of Wrestling II attempts to capitalize on wrestling nostalgia with a roster of classic grapplers from various eras. Unfortunately, its clunky controls, repetitive gameplay, and lackluster visuals fail to deliver a satisfying experience. While the exhibition mode might provide brief fun for die-hard wrestling fans, the career mode is shallow and poorly designed. Sadly, Legends of Wrestling II ultimately feels like a missed opportunity to celebrate the rich history of professional wrestling.

HOGAN IS AMERICAN MADE! THE ONLY REAL GIANT IS STILL ANDRE!

JERRY LAWLER WILL ALWAYS BE THE KING! CAUSE WE ARE THE LEGENDS! OF WRESTLING!

Damn I love that song. GG, Jimmy Hart.

Yeah this game is pretty fun. And the EU version is even better with the extra character like Kendo Nagasaki and Big Daddy.

Needs a lot of time to master the controls but still a fun wrestling game.

Honestly not terrible for what it is, but there are so many better wrestling games on the PS2 alone that it isn't really worth the time. I do think it's pretty funny how a game themed after old school territory era wrestling has an early 2000s nu metal buttrock soundtrack.

It was nice to see some old wrestlers

Very over the top, outlandish yet fun gameplay that doesn't take itself too seriously. Presentation was somewhat silly yet juxtaposed with a dark gritty atmosphere and hard rock soundtrack which oddly worked to create a charming and memorable experience.
