This TurboGrafx-16 release of Lode Runner allows users to create and save levels, much like the original computer-based releases. A very straightforward conversion of a popular puzzle platform game. You must collect the piles of gold on each level, while avoiding the robots on patrol. To defend yourself, you are able to shoot holes in the platforms to your left or right, and these will capture the robots for a short time before they climb out again. Once you have collected all the gold, make your way to the top of the screen for the next level. The game also includes a level editor.

Well, anyone who is at least in their twenties knows what Lode Runner is. (editor's note: not anymore) I swear, the game must be one of the most-ported games, EVER. God only knows why, it's really irritating.

Here's low-down. You're this guy in a mine-type-place. You have to collect gold while dodging monsters. For some reason, the ladder to the next area doesn't appear unless you get all the gold. Maybe it's because you need to make an offering to the Ladder-Gods or something. Anyway, so you're getting gold and dodging monsters… And just how do we accomplish this? By running, climbing, and digging. Yep, that's all you can do. More often than not, you'll dig yourself into an inescapable hole, and more often than not, the monsters can corner you faster than you can run, climb, or dig.

This is just one of those games that proves that there's a fine line between genious and insanity.
