Milon's Secret Castle

released on Nov 13, 1986

Guide Milon through the four levels of Garland Castle in his quest to reach the top floor and vanquish the big boss! The journey is a difficult one though, because the castle is locked up tight and Milon doesn't have the keys. You will have to use your bubble attacks to fend off the castle baddies while busting up every block in sight trying to find all of the hidden treasure and other secrets throughout the game. Unlike most platformers, Milon's Secret Castle is less about defeating all of the enemies in an area, and more about scouring every bit of each room to find the secrets that lie within Garland Castle! Milo can uncover practically anything in the game. This includes: items, power-ups, money, shields, keys, level exits, even shops! The only way to get to each level boss is to find the right secret items!

Derdimi uzun uzun anlatmaya üşeniyorum. AVGN tüm duygularımı uzun uzun anlatmış. Merak eden açsın izlesin

I guess this really is the first Metroidvania since it did come out a few months after the other two. Probably not directly inspired, but it sure feels like it. You also seem some Super Mario Bros flavors added here. (The boss fights come close to straight up plagiarizing Bowser's movement from SMB). Overall it's really a solid action platformer with some really nice attention to detail in some animations and level design. My biggest gripes are that there are too many destructible blocks which forces you to run around the entire game shooting at everything and the music minigame is basically Avalanche and I hate Avalanche.

Terrible game from a "decent" sequel, so to speak (referring to Do-Re-Mi Fantasy)

Hear me out. This game is flawed... like, heavily flawed. It's got no i-frames. It needs to be beat in one sitting. It's cryptic as hell. Even then... it's kinda got this charm to it. This has to be one of the first ever Metroidvanias to actually... exist! I like its setting, a musical kingdom. And I found it to be kinda relaxing to methodically clear rooms and progress after a tough boss fight. That being said, I can't exactly call this a good game, or recommend it to the average gamer. I just think it's a little over-hated.

got my username from this cartridge so it has a special significance to me
