First person shooters have been around since the 80s, but really started to flourish somewhere in the mid 90s, think of true hood classics like wolfenstein and doom.

The problem with these games lies in its implicit violence, shooting somebody will most likely be fatal, which caused serious dicussions about the ethical complications of videogames.

Pirate Blast however, shows us a glimmer of hope for a world where shooting games don't have to necessarily be violent. Wielding a powerful watergun and water balloons, you pave your way through large groups of robots, disabling them and allowing you to progress.

Unfortunately, while this game might be excellent at entertaining 9-year-old me, it no longer holds up to the standards I have grown accustomed to over the years. 2.5 stars
