Just wanted to note how incredible this fan game is and how I’m disappointed it got cancelled 🫶🏻 that is all

[August 8 2021 demo]

WOW!

I have not finished the demo. I could not wait to get my thoughts about this onto the web. I have so much to praise here but I really want to congratulate this team: if the quality of this demo is the quality of the full game, it will handily be my favorite 2D Metroid installment. There is simply so much to remark on. The production quality is absurd. I was floored from the word go. It demonstrates the devs' titanic love of Metroid Prime in every pixel, and their comprehensive understanding of what makes Metroid Prime great--and how to implement it--is very readily apparent as well.

Including the scan visor is a gimme, but it is implemented in a mechanically-sensible and satisfying way. I can't wait to see the other visors.

The decision to use mouseaim is, to me, inspired; I believe that the motion controls in the Trilogy release of Metroid Prime is the best one in terms of control. The setup is so intuitive for aiming and is deeply satisfying. The mouse aim in this way is analogous to these motion controls, in the way that standard metroid d-pad controls are analogous to the GameCube controller.

It also controls very beautifully. I would personally like to see the somersault animation sped up quite a bit and I would love to have a crouch key. That's the only things I would change though. The animations are beautiful and the character is responsive.

Samus's animations for firing in different directions behind her has so much effort put into making it look as natural and as smooth as possible. It rocks. They worked hard as hell on this.

Sound is brilliant too. The power beam is nice and punchy. Very satisfying to fire. The power beam is my favorite weapon in the Prime games and they have translated the feeling of firing it immaculately.

Using an original score is an extremely gutsy move and it fits into this game like a Tetris block. It's one of the secret ingredients that makes this game feel encompassing. Play with headphones!

There's much more I could talk about. The quality of the pixel art. The new original design for Samus. The lighting and environmental effects.

This is an absolutely essential must-play for any fan of good art and the 2D metroids. Can't wait to play more.
