Massive amount of charm in a little experience. Fantastic except for the fact that there's no map and the ending is mid

We are entering a renaissance of 3D platformers.
What started out as a game jam project got turned into a short but very mechanically deep metroidvania that is a blast to traverse. The game seems very much designed with the intention of sequence breaking. I could boot this up and just run around in the castle for hours with how satisfying the movement tech is in this game.
Also Sybil is ridiculously cheeked up and the dev was so real for that.

Some of the most satisfying 3D platformer controls in the indie space and a solid Metroidvania as well even though this game definitely could've used a map system due to the constant back-tracking.

I'm not that big on platformers or metroidvainias so both together is alright for me. Very fun platforming, but at its best with everything unlocked. Recommend if you're a fan of platformers or metroidvanias, can get very confusing at times though

7/10

Never have I felt such density and complexity with a characters movement since Super Mario 64. The player has such a wide variety of tricks and maneuvers simply traversing the areas in Pseudoregalia is fun, and being an OSNAP certainly supports that. The lack of a map can make things a bit confusing, but honestly its not that necessary. The only real qualm I have with this game is the combat. There are attacks of course, but it feels like the focus was more on the movement and platforming than fighting enemies. Which, of course is what's best about the game, but some enemy variety wouldn't hurt either. There are only two real "bosses" in the game, and if feels like the game should have more, especially in this ONE SPECIFIC AREA and when you get to it you will think the same thing. Other than that, the game is short and super sweet, with great art style, music and atompsphere.
Side note, our main character is obviously designed with the creators...tastes in mind, which I 100% rock with. I believe more devs should take note of what Pseudoregalia does not just in terms of engaging 3D exploration, but also learn that it is possible to have your main character be a bad bitch and make the game good.

Its been a long time since I've had this much fun just running around in a game. The exploration in this game is incredible and the vibes are immaculate the whole way through. The only part that feels off is the combat. There isn't much of it so its not a huge deal, but its still enough of a problem given how short the game is. Overall this is a very fun game and more than worth the $6 it goes for. I am very excited for what the developer does next.

I will continue to at least pretend to be normal about Sybil I promise.
