Ended right as it was starting to outstay its welcome

A Hydlide-like that also feels a bit like Dandy. Well, if you haven't played either of those, the game takes place in a 5x5 world map with some dungeons and towns, which you explore. There's a zelda-like puzzle-box-ness to unraveling and clearing out these 5x5 worlds.

To attack an enemy you bump into them, and you can switch between defense/attack mode. There's three attack types, too, and you pick the best one based on the enemy type. It's the kind of thing that feels a little boring in more 'real-time' games, but here things almost feel turn based that it's actually fun to swap in and out of bashing/slashing/stabbing attacks to most quickly take down an enemy.

It's fun to pick the right mode for the enemy difficulty: you can run through a hard dungeon with defense mode on to hopefully not be killed in one hit. Fights can feel tense when you're in attack mode and take a lot of damage.

After a few hours I feel like I mastered most of the combat - you want to watch the enemy behavior for their movement or facing direction, then attack from the back or side. In this sense it kind of felt like an 'action puzzle' game.

Like in the Hydlides, dungeons feel best when you're just a bit underleveled. They feel the most fun when you're trying to precisely move around the enemies , or engage in combat if you really have to. Once you get a bit overleveled things become a lot more straightforward and feel more along the lines of trying to hunt down the next flag.

If I have any feedback, I felt the overworld art didn't quite match the dark dungeon synth-feel of the song. Otherwise I enjoyed the game a lot!
