In a futuristic city named Neo-Detroit, a scientist named Jeed kidnaps two police officers, Maxima and Rocky, and transforms them into cyborgs, but failed to implant on them a chip that would make them obey his will. They eventually escape his grasp and decide to defeat the mad scientist. He pits his army against the two, but they are no match for Maxima and Rocky. Maxima and Rocky eventually find out that Jeed kidnapped his own daughter to prevent her from stopping him. Maxima and Rocky defeated Jeed and saved his daughter. In gratitude for rescuing her, she returned them to normal.

"Robo Army" is your average beat'em up. A genre that's a dime a dozen on the Neo Geo. This one would even register as fairly mediocre. There's some depth thrown in with various special attacks, but mechanically nothing veteran arcade fans haven't seen before. So why do I like it so much then? Well, this has some of the coolest sound design of any brawler on the platform. The clanks of metal robots knocking against each other is really fun and complemented well by appropriately janky looking character models. This games got an old school esthetic and it rocks it well.

More transform powers would have been great, but otherwise a fun brawler from SNK.
