As the name suggests, you're able to travel around the perimeter of the arena and shoot inwards at different spawning enemies. Your shots don't reach all the way across the screen so you're forced to move around to reach enemies as well as avoid those flying at you. I think it would have been more fun if your sprite was smaller and they had more enemies on screen like Robotron.
