Sakura MMO 3 picks up where the second game left off. Viola and Eleri have learned how they got to Asaph and that it is possible to get back home to Japan. However, the witch who brought them there won’t let them go until they’ve defeated the fallen goddess. Both girls are strong and determined, but first they have to find the goddess, and they only have two weeks to do it! Will they conquer? Will they return home? Stay tuned!

Visuals

If you liked the artstyle of Sakura MMO and Sakura MMO 2, you’ll also like Sakura MMO 3 since it’s done in the same vibrant anime style. It reuses some of the same backgrounds, which makes sense, since we visit some of the same locations. There are a lot of new ones though as the girls go on their next adventure across Asaph. The character sprites are also exactly the same, with three new characters introduced.

I did get the 18+ patch for this one, and it actually worked, so I was treated with some extra special visuals.

Sound Effects + Music

Sakura MMO 3 also uses the same background music from in Sakura MMO. It’s a mix of fantasy inspired music and more generic visual novel music. Nothing new to say about it.

There’s still no voice acting at all. Not even little one liners or sighs. It’s not a deal breaker for me, but I find it does take away from the experience a bit, especially since this is based on a game which presumably has sound effects. And the additional sound effects are extremely limited.

Gameplay + Controls

Sakura MMO 3 is a visual novel with very few choices and no additional gameplay. It’s easy to read and get sucked into. Just press Enter and enjoy! You might want to pay attention to your choices or make multiple saves, since there are five possible endings this time. As far as I can tell, you don’t need to get 100% of the decisions correct for each love interest. As long as you make their critical choices to take you down one of their routes, you’ll get one of the endings. But there is a bad end in this one! And after completing the story once, a bonus story is unlocked!

Replayability

Being a visual novel, Sakura MMO 3 is replayable, and you should replay it as it has five different endings. There’s one for each of the girls in Viola’s harem as always, but there’s additional endings for the full harem and one bad end. And all achievements are earned automatically during each route, so it should be easy to get all of them if you do all routes.

Overall

Sakura MMO 3 was another fun adventure for Viola and her harem. It has a bittersweet ending (at least for the first one that I did) but left me happy. There’s still room for more though!
