The village of Hoori lies deep in the middle of the mountains, inaccessible by rail. Since there isn’t much interaction with its surroundings, the town seems like it is stuck in the past. However, it is because of this exact olden feel and subsequent development that it has turned into a nice hot-springs town for tourists. One of the popular sightseeing spots is the legendary katana Murasamemaru, embedded in stone. No one has been able to pull it out… until Masaomi somehow broke it in half. He has to take responsibility for his actions: “Marriage” with ‘shrine maiden princess’ Yoshino!? He was perplexed at the unexpected turn of events, but this is only just the beginning. What lies ahead for him is a much more peculiar and mysterious life, including his new fiancée, a mysterious girl who only he could touch, and the secret behind the curse that remains on the town. What will become of Masaomi’s love amidst his rapidly changing life? The answer lies within the Murasamemaru in his hands.

Hmmm... It's definitley not bad, in fact if I'd say it's good, but not great. While it had a decent setting and decently likable characters, I don't think it really did much to stick out, especially compared to the other 2 Yuzusoft titles I read before (Dracu Riot and Sanoba/Sabbat).

I can see why people thought the common route could be seen as peak. It almost feels like that could have been it's own short VN on its own. I wouldn't say it's that much better than the routes, but at the very least it's better than the weaker ones due to interesting enough plot and a little character development.

I think it's interesting that people think this VN's route/character quality is balanced... cuz I think it's the opposite in comparison to say Sanoba. In Sanoba I really liked a few characters/routes pretty evenly. While in Senren I did overall like all the characters similar to Sanoba, the character quality disparity was a bit more pronounced.

Similarly, while the routes are all fine... none except Lena and mayyybe Murasame's were great to me. Yoshino and Mako did cover some interesting development but overall felt too dragged out and boring by the end. Koharu and Roka were good but way too short.

It does seem Yuzusoft has gotten a little better about not overusing the "calling MC a pervert for things not necessarily his fault" thing. But Senren still did it enough to annoy me, and they usually bunch it together towards the end of routes (except in Lena, and Koharu + Roka routes, thank god!).

Masaomi is slightly above average MC. One of things Yuzusoft has done well so far, made likable enough MCs. Though I think they played up Masaomi's density a bit much sometimes.

Side charas were likable enough. Sanoba's stuck out a lot more to me though.

I need to bring up this point again, but the "humor" in unnecessarily calling MC a pervert especially in a hypocritical way has something that's really annoyed me in every Yuzusoft title. Senren softened up a little on it but the fact that almost every route (besides Lena/Koharu/Roka) eventually spammed this 'joke' towards the end of each route kind of ruins how each route ends for me, especially thats usually when the good stuff hapens. Thats why it seems like some routes are lower than they should be. It's unfortunate since Yuzusoft generally has good, even great humor at times but then usually has to resort to this because?????????????? This point is pretty much the main thing holding me back from being one of the many Yuzusoft shills honestly. Now I'm kinda hesitant of how I read later Yuzusoft since this humor tends to get me angry.

Character rankings:

Lena > Koharu >> Yoshino > Murasame > Roka > Mako

Route rankings:

Lena > Murasame > Roka > Mako > Koharu > Yoshino

Good enough and had a few standout things (mostly Lena related) but not something I'd overtly recommend in general.

You can't even date the sister, what the fuck..

Man, I feel like most VNs with multiple romance options aren't as obvious as this one is about how being nice during 1-2 tiny interactions sends you barreling down each girl's route. This by itself wouldn't necessarily be bad (I don't think most of us are here for hard-earned romance) if it wasn't for how quickly the routes consume most aspects of each girl's personalities that aren't "oh my god I love him" - doing away with parts of them I actually liked and made them more unique during the common route. As of writing this, I've still only done Murasame's then Mako's route but overall the girls feel a little formulaic (even early on before the romance kicks into overdrive). Slightly forcing myself to play the rest of the routes here [18 hours in]

Okay just finished Lena's route as my last because I saw a few people say they were glad or wish they had saved the best for last and damn they were right. That route is a pretty large improvement over all the others - to the point it basically feels like YuzuSoft originally intended it to be the one "true" story/ending. Not only because it unveiled so much of the mystery but because Lena retained her personality, had great chemistry with the MC, and there were many heartwarming scenes that weren't just them restating their love or having sex. Literally saved this VN from being a 3 or 4 and brings it to a solid 5/10 (Lena route 8/10).

Enjoyed the rural Japanese countryside setting of this VN, music was nice as well, comfy atmosphere and artstyle. Kinda low variety in background pictures though. I don't regret reading this, but I definitely expected more from the Overwhelmingly Positive reception on Steam. Also, too many H-scenes for me, I mostly blitzed through them. I wanted a moege not a nukige lol

Route writing quality: Lena 8 >>> Mako 6 > Murasame 5 > Yoshino 4 >>> Roka 2 > Koharu 1 [should be noted the last two are shorter and overlap a lot though]
My fav girls: Mako > Murasame > Roka > Lena > Yoshino >>> Koharu
