Shadowgrounds reminded me of Aliens in so many ways that the game seemed to literally play on my never ending nostalgia on that movie, and kept throwing things at me that reminded me of anything Aliens related and after this nostalgia trip, the game failed to deliver.

The combat felt okayish, the levels felt the same, but they quickly turned into this blend of non-working designs that seem to create this coharent mess of stolen ideas of a game.

The game can be completed in under an hour, but I needed to take breaks, because some of the levels were really boring. The combat's simplicity does not justifiy uninteresting level design. Take my beloved Dead Island 2 for example, which operates with a simple combat loop, with elements that make it much more interesting than what it is.

Shadowgrounds needed more ideas, and less levels, maybe a survivor/arcade mode and upgrades! The game has an upgrade system but they are just so bad, and you won't even use some of them at all.

Besides all this, it is made decently, it has some redeeming values and I like that it reminded me of Aliens this much, without being an Alien game.

Gameplay was clunky and there were aliens.

Too long for that boring game loop, should be twice shorter, last 2 chapters awful, shouldn't be in game at all, became quick repeatable, small variety of enemy's, don't play at all, you will not lose at all.
