Skate 2

released on Jan 21, 2009

It's been five long years since your mysterious disappearance from the skate scene, and much has changed in the wake of "the disaster-too-gnarly-to-be-named." The massive devastation left large swaths of San Vanelona completely destroyed. After the mass evacuation, one company, Mongocorp, won the bid to rebuild New San Vanelona and their zealous protection of their private property has put a damper on the once thriving skate population. Your mission is to rebuild your career and revive the New San Van skate scene. To help you get the job done, you'll have double the tricks and the new ability to get off your board to move stuff and create the sickest lines. There's even a crew of locals you can call on to help take care of business. Skate 2--it's time to take back the city ... one spot at a time.

i don’t think i could reasonably give this any sort of rating and this will probably sound lame, but i the entire time i was playing this i was perpetually reminded of being harassed while trying to skate. normally i would brush this off as correlation w/o causation, but this game feels so uninviting and inhospitable for women/fems. there is only one set of voice lines and instead of going gender neutral, it assumes you’re gonna be a man if you’re playing this, you can customize your body type, but all of the clothes revert you back to the male body type. not even to mention the constant use of the t-slur throughout (kinda comes with the territory but still). sorry if this is a bit incoherent but i really wanted to like this game but i just found myself being pushed away around every corner.

love this so much spend about 80 hours

With a far more polish than it's first outing, Skate 2 is a fantastic continuation of the series and a standout title in it's own right. The flick-it system in this game is much more precise than the first game and the events are far more interesting this time around. Still not my favorite Skate game, but it's a good middle-step on the road to Skate 3

a brilliant game that only misses perfection when compared to the QOL changes brought by Skate 3. that said, yes, this game's map is better
