Not terrible, but hard to really get into. the surface level joke is kind of a funny idea, but it's not terribly engaging. the pixel art looks relatively nice but the UI is pretty basic.

Fun for only the first 5 minutes.

I kinda love this game but I'm missing some things that would make it perfect.

Social Justice Warriors is a very clever rpg-fication of your regular social media discourse with ignorant bigots. The gameplay is fairly simple as you choose one of the four available archetypes and then go into a gauntlet against a barrage of different trolls and idiots trying to take out either their patience or reputation through four abilities that make up your actions on the internet platform.
The goal is to come out of as many discussions as possible before losing all your own patience or reputation.

It has a really nice, simple visual style and a lot of well-written battle dialog that is at the same time very direct and realistic as well as self-aware and comedic. As you still encounter a lot of racists, homophobes, transphobes, or other kinds of nuisances, you should be ready to be confronted with their vocabulary though.

It is quite a lot of fun to figure out your specific archetype's strategy of dealing with different kinds of trolls and it can be pretty satisfying when you figure out a combination of attacks that works well. I also really love the different assisting characters that could randomly pop up to help you.

The only thing that makes this game a bit frustrating or lackluster for me is that defensive abilities are really weak. It's very hard to regain energy without immediately losing it again and I feel like the player should have more control over that. It's frustrating when every time you do the one move that replenishes a tiny bit of your energies it is just followed up by the enemy's next attack taking all of it away immediately. Especially since, if I understood correctly, there are some special abilities you only gain if your reputation and patience bars are filled. But I genuinely don't know how to get that done.
I wish there was more control over keeping yourself alive so you wouldn't have to rely on random assist encounters so much to keep you alive.
I also wish there was something like items or special moves that would give the game more strategic opportunities because as it is, it can get pretty repetitive after a while. Which is a shame because the concept is great and the execution of what's there is very nice.

I would absolutely love a sequel of this game with expanded features. It's still really cool in my opinion but it's just lacking that one thing to truly make it great.
