Star Wars: Episode I - The Gungan Frontier

released on May 24, 1999

You are given the task of creating a new ecology for Gungan colonizers. In this game much like SimLife, you decide where to put creatures in the new world. You must juggle things so all of the creatures are well-fed, there is no over-population, and most importantly that the Gungans are living in harmony with the other species.

I spent like 4 hours trying to get this to run just to find out I could simply emulate it on mac. Very badass.

Anyways, this is an extremely bizzare one, it's kinda just like your typical resource simulator game, but for an ecosystem, and it's all about the Gungans. You basically just kinda put down plants and animals to create a nice ecosystem that the Gungans can harvest. Sometimes Jar Jar and Boss Nass jumpscare you, which is pretty cool.

Pretty chill vibes, nothing offensively bad, but it's just kinda boring honestly. Neat idea and all, but uhh y'know, just go play Spore or something. I'm sure there was a kid in 1999 that loves resource management, just got out of watching The Phantom Menace, and was fucking PSYCHED for this one. I hope he enjoyed this.

What happens when you mix the gameplay of The Sims, and a resource management game, then gave it a Star Wars Episode 1 coat of paint?

You have a very confused 10 year old in 1999.
There's some charm in Star Wars Episode I: The Gungan Frontier, but unless this game is nostalgic for you, or you're just on board for the weird Star Wars factor, there are better games to play - even at the time there was Sim Life which is a fair bit better.

But on the other hand, this has Jar Jar Binks who was funny in 1999 and he's still funny now and I'll die on that hill. Star Wars has always been goofy, just let it be goofy.
