Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People Episode 4: Dangeresque 3 - The Criminal Projective

released on Nov 17, 2008

Move over, generically buff action heroes. Strong Bad is here to show you how it's done in his hand-crafted cinematic masterpiece, Dangeresque 3: The Criminal Projective. You play Dangeresque, a dirty cop in pursuit of a little action and several big sacks of cash. Can our hero stay alive long enough to defeat his arch-nemesis, save the world and get the girl? Looks like he's gonna have to jump.

This one stands out from the rest of the SBCG4AP episodes by presenting the whole game as a movie. Areas that connected to each other in previous games are sectioned off and dressed up as movie sets. For long-time HR fans, the payoff of finally seeing Dangeresque 3 was huge in 2008, but the charm of the game's presentation definitely holds up over a decade later.

One of the best things this episode does compared to the rest of the series is the post-game. Each
Strong Bad* game has an "Extended Play" section after you roll credits, but this one keeps the movie theme going, framing the post-game as DVD Bonus Features. You can go interview the characters about their roles, find bloopers, and even have Strong Bad talk about the special effects!

Strong Bad/Dangeresque: "Brainblow City. A town as hard as steel and twice as gray. She is like a fine lady type: treat her right and she'll make you cupcakes shaped like cold ones, but treat her wrong and she'll kick you in the knees, step on your face with a stiletto heel, take your wallet and totally ruin your credit score!"

Coach Z/Renaldo: "Yeah... your woman scares me."

This is absolutely the best episode! A lot of the episodes so far have had some great fan service, but Episode 4 by far has the ultimate fan service 5 years in the making. Getting to play through the long awaited Dangeresque 3 is truly a sight to behold. The episode is definitely more linear than any other episode, but this change works perfectly to it's advantage, and while still possible to get locked out of 100%, this is probably the easiest episode to get everything on your first try, with a lot of stuff even accessible via the Extended Play, which has the best use out of any of the other extended plays in this series. I had a gigantic smile playing through this episode the entire time from start to finish. DO NOT SKIP THIS EPISODE BY ANY MEANS. Can episode 5 match how satisfying this episode was. Only one way to find out. Looks like we're gonna have to ju-ump!
