Very addicting, but the translation is trash and the team behind it sucks. I don't know why because I can't read chinese. It can get obtuse and very, very grindy, but that's the nature of this genre. Techniques can get a bit samey, or clearly overtuned.

Edit - I just remembered this game has the worst relation system of all time. DO NOT make anyone angry at you

If you've ever read any of your typical Xianxia or even Wuxia novels, Tale of Immortal is essentially that but in a 2D bullet-hell-esque sandbox game.

Face slapping, crippled cultivations, heaven-blessed geniuses, arrogant nobles, righteous vs demonic paths, 3000 year old jade-like grandmas, cultivation sects... Tale of Immortal is here to fulfill your Xianxia dreams.

Of course in the end this game is a sandbox game so a lot of it's systems are lacking in depth. Most of the fun you have will be from what you make of it rather than the content itself. Quests in the game are not all that interesting, combat is fun at times but mostly tedious, and the overall gameplay loop quickly becomes dull and repetitive.

Yet even saying all that Tale of Immortal is just one of those games you could play for 20 hours straight without batting an eye. It kind of scratches a similar itch for me as Mount & Blade, even if the games themselves are pretty different.

If you like Xianxia and all the tropes you find in that genre you'll probably like this game. If you have no idea what Xianxia is though, then don't bother. Most of the fun will come from your knowledge of the genre and how you choose to interact with that. For me though, this is the only game that scratches that Xianxia itch.

整体还行 一开始挺好玩的 比太吾绘卷刚上线时内容上也少了不少

It's still in Early Access and I plan to play again in the future. Maybe my thoughts will change then.

Tale of Immortal is a twin-stick shooter/bullet-hell/RPG based in Chinese cultivation fiction.

Making builds, learning skills, beating up rivals, and ascending in power is the point of the game.

As a note, I've not moved very far beyond the early game. This is due to my main complaint, the early game is extremely boring and grindy. There are not very many abilities in the early game that are interesting and most builds feel the same in the beginning. Ascending beyond the early-game requires farming a couple levels. It's pretty boring as you're mainly fighting non-threatening grunts over and over again for materials needed to ascend.

The grind makes some amount of thematic sense, as it is somewhat tied to the cultivation theme. Still a pain, though.

Once you get past the early game, it gets more interesting. You start to have more options to develop builds, more cool abilities and gear, but the grind remains the same.

Unfortunately, while I was starting to have fun, the grind was wearing me down and I felt I had to put down the game. I intend to continue once the game leaves Early Access and the English translation is more complete (It was around 80% of current content at the time of play).

For now, I think there is a lot of potential, but the early grind holds the game back.
