This was a game that tantalized me when I was a kid. The fact that each mission had a large map, even if it was mostly empty space and not meant to be travelled, allured me. This was also a really 3D game, one of the first I ever played. Being able to fly in all directions and go above the clouds was very cool.

The shareware campaign which starts you out on a foresty world, then takes you through a canyon, then has you assault that mothership environment was very cool and spurred my imagination.

Replaying this game– and I'm sure I've finished the entirety of this game before– showed me that my nostalgia doesn't hold up to reality. This game is pretty bare. Enemies are simple, objectives are simple, and you see most of what you can see in the first six levels or so. The game I had in my head– fueled by pleasant childhood memories– was way better than what this actually is.
