The Adventures of Down Under Dan

released on Dec 31, 1995

Dan is a bush pilot with an urgent need for cash - about all he owns of his plane is the air in the tires! Just before the bank decides to repossess his craft, a friend tells him of rumored fortunes being made. So buckle in and head out into the harsh, remote and baffling Outback in search of huge opals that are apparently just waiting to be picked off the ground. Blue beauties! How hard can that be? The game has photorealistic settings and uses digitized video animations. It has a standard adventure game inventory using Dan's backpack where appropriate items must be gathered and used in the correct place and manner. It also holds hints - the more you play, the more you can view.

HOLY CRAP this is one of the funniest games I've ever played. Honestly. The writing is top tier. And the puzzles are pretty epic too, complemented by a hint system just in case. Seriously guys, you go underground and get attacked by a mob of feral DOS prompts ("I guess we are too far underground to see Windows hyek hyek") and have to survive your plane being hit by the world's first flying emu. Whatever happened to this dev?

this is certainly one of the games
