Tony Hawk: Shred is the 2010 sequel to the video game Tony Hawk: Ride, a spin-off of the Tony Hawk series. The game is a peripheral-based, motion controlled skateboarding game. Shred introduces a snowboarding mode to the series as well as Avatar and Mii support on the Xbox 360 and Wii versions respectively. A "surfing" mode was worked on for the game, but was soon scrapped due to funds and short amount of time to work on it.

Tony Hawk: Shred attempted to revolutionize the skateboarding genre with its motion-controlled skateboard peripheral. Sadly, the ambition far outweighed the execution. The board controls feel imprecise and frustrating, making even basic tricks difficult to pull off consistently. While the cartoon-like visuals are charming, they can't make up for the clunky gameplay and lack of engaging modes. Ultimately, Tony Hawk: Shred is an interesting experiment that falters in its attempt to translate the excitement of skateboarding into a fun video game experience.
