One of the first IFComp winners (it was a tie). Feels pretty small and ordinary for that. Well put together, with evocative language. As the world opens up some more, the writing also flexes some more, which means it ends strong.
Definitely feels dated in some of the inflexibility of the parser. I suspect it hasn't aged as well because of how much IF has flourished as a genre partly because of the competition that this helped start, back when interest levels, the community, and the pools of available tool were all much, much smaller.
It was interesting, but I don't think it's necessarily going to do much if you're not going for completionism.
