Under the Skin

released on Aug 05, 2004

In Under the Skin, players must cause as much chaos and panic as possible by taking on the identity of the various people he or she encounters throughout CoCo Town and other environments. Equipped with a special ray gun, gamers can scan and absorb the DNA of anyone they target. With this genetic material, Cosmi can take the form and attributes of anyone he's zapped. For example while in human form, sing a song only dogs could appreciate, causing those nearby to drop coins that must be collected. Catch them all as these coins are what Cosmi and his enemies are being judged on in order to return home. But beware; causing such disruption puts Cosmi in danger of being caught and having his true alien identity revealed.

I don't mind the short length when there's a tight arcade game play loop that makes it fun to master; mix that with each stage's unique spin to the game play and theming to the awesome cel shaded art style you have a real gem!

+An NPC looks like Sissel from Ghost Trick

It was fun! Not a whole lot to it, beat it in about 2 hours.

But hey, it’s unique! And has a great art style, the designs in this game are super charming. I feel like it might shine brighter in the multiplayer mode, which I didn’t get a chance to test out.

So yeah, not an amazing game, but a charming one! Wish I had more to say about it, but honestly there’s not a whole lot TO say. It’s worth a try!

I was forced to play this as a joke among friends and holy hell is it bad, chaotic silliness at its best but usually just visually annoying and terrible feeling, jank controls. Very bad.

There's something genuinely incredible here if Capcom ever gives it another shot. Compete against a fellow alien to prank humans and grab the most coins using various props like bowling balls, cork-guns, and thumbtacks.

It's ADORABLE, it's stylish, it's peak 2000s Capcom constrained only by its nature as a party game and a few detractors like long stun animations and repetitive play. But when the game varies its objectives (like in one Capcom horror tribute stage) it's obvious that Under the Skin could be something great with modern industry ideas.

Cosmi for MVC4 plz.

This game inspired me to become a prank youtuber
