This very much feels more like a tech demo than a fully realized game, but it must have been absolutely mind blowing when it was originally shown off. The polygonal 3D and animations were obviously impressive, but to then also be able to just flying around this massive world and even flying up into space is incredible. David Braben of Elite fame supposedly programmed this by himself in just a few months and kudos to him for giving people a preview of things to come.
