My first and favourite X game. What I love about this one is the super immersive UI and UX. The newer entries in the series (and most modern games) have a very clean and sterile look. It's mostly generic website buttons arranged in lists and tables.
Not X2 though. When you press enter, it brings up a console, which is themed as your ships computer. There are keyboard shortcuts for most things you can do, enabling to quickly and efficiently command your ship and empire. It reminds me of the Master of Orion 2 UI, its just so seamlessly integrated into the whole experience. This is very important, as most X gameplay revolves around you managing a sprawling trade empire. You will spend lots of time in these menus, which is why I appreciate them looking nice and beeing easy to use. I wish more games would create UIs like these again.
