The low ratings are just kids not getting past the 3 tutorial worlds. This is one of my favourite games and is an absolute blast AFTER the 3 tutorial worlds.

Just a bit aimless, really. It asks you to run around its worlds to find new kinds of bricks and 'discoveries', but outside of that, there's nothing to do here, it's just pointless.
So the exploration in this open-world game sucks, but what about the building? After all, the game lets you build with virtual LEGO bricks. Well, that is incredibly limited. There are no technic peaces, there's no way to make custom Minifigures or vehicles and you can't even place bricks on their side.
If you want to build with digital LEGO, you're better off installing the free BrickLink Studio.

Destroying things was a lot more fun than building anything
Good idea, but boring execution. I think the amount of pieces and the menial way of building makes creating anything kind of annoying and just a chore. My first Lego game sadly, so I'll have to play a real Lego game to cure the wounds.
