This game really is the best of the newest(subjective) MK games. There's a very good reason why it reignited the series and gave it a new lease on life. It's a solid reboot of an already disjointed and stagnated series(though the PS2 era is pretty fun), and gives players much more mechanical depth and much more fun to be had, fatalities are still very bloody but fun, and the story being a retelling of the original trilogy of games is a pretty interesting route to take.
