Sonic superstars is by basically every definition a very "safe" game. It doesn't do anything exceedingly well but at the same time nothing about it is horrible. It feel like it is very much on auto pilot throughout much of the game. Levels as a whole are just alright. Music as a whole is just alright. This game is very by the numbers if I haven't made that painstakingly obvious. The only thing I really dislike about the game are the boss fights which get a little to close the fights from sonic 4 episode 2. In which that can go on for a long period of time with no checkpoints and for some no rings so if you get screwed and can't pick any up after getting hit. The final boss in particular being the worst about this making the game's ending feeling very long, drawn out, and exhausting. Although this is all from a single player perspective and multiplayer could be a work around for these issues as you have 4 bodies to throw at the problem instead of just one which can help in the longer encounters where a single stray hit or instant death scenario (which the the final boss if full of) doesn't mean you go right back to the start. Regardless this game is very by the numbers outside of that and whether or not you're ok with that is what will ultimately decide whether or not you will like this game. I'm someone who thinks overall that a price of a game is subjective but $60 is a bit hard too swallow for this game and if you do want to play I would reccomend waiting for price drop.
