Steam FPS Fest 2024

yet another list of demos of upcoming games i tried during a steam fest, ranked from best to worst

I didn't play it this fest but it's still the GOAT, I'm still heartbroken that it will be in EA until like 2026.
This game loves being an asshole and keeping you on your toes, which is perfect for the setting and vibe. Aesthetic is top-notch and gameplay is great with fun levels to explore and very satisfying gunplay. Sadly, though, I didn't find the shotgun on my run, which is truly tragic. I hear it's able to fire even when fully degraded, which would've come in handy when my handgun was both broken and empty... oh well, we ball. This is a must-play whenever it comes out!
Seems to be a Metroid Prime-inspired game, and I love Metroid Prime. Aesthetic is nothing alike tho, but I loved the aesthetic in the demo and the bits we got to see of a story were intriguing. Gunplay is somewhat odd, since it has that MP inspiration, so you mostly rely on lock-on... which is odd for a PC FPS, but it works. The bullet hell enemies are fun to deal with and exploration has potential to get saucy later on (I discovered a couple secrets in my run of the demo). Demo ends a tad too soon for me, but that's just how it be sometimes. Definitely one to keep an eye out for!

Definitely needs some work still, but I was pretty impressed as is (considering it's an alpha). Has one of the best shotguns ever put in a game, as it can gore most enemies in a single shot and has surprisingly good range! Great gunplay all around and I like the occult powers. Optimization is very rough rn. Very promising game, I like what I see.
Boomer shooter that seems to primarily take after Duke Nukem 3D and Serious Sam. Really fun, nice soundtrack, and the odd delivery makes the dialogues funnier than they should be. I'll probably play this one!
Very satisfying gunplay, landing headshots never gets old in this game thanks to the blood explosions and crunchy sounds. Feels like it's missing something, though, like letting you lean out of cover or... I dunno, something. What I'm saying is, that it's mechanically very standard. You walk, you aim, and you shoot. Can't even sprint or jump or anything, there's no puzzles of any sort (in this demo), enemies are simple... it just feels like it's missing some sauce. Not bad by any means, though, it has a solid foundation and satisfying gunplay, just needs something to stand out. Apparently it will have an "engaging storyline" so maybe that could make or break it, cuz there's no story in the demo.
Seems like my type of game but I dunno, wasn't really feeling the gunplay on this one. Too much recoil on every single gun. Might get better later on tho, especially when you get more powers, and seems like a fun co-op game... couldn't find a single lobby in the demo tho.
Nice visuals and good atmosphere, shitty clunky combats and basic puzzles. Not bad, not great.
I ain't really feeling it. It's not bad, but meh.
STAND IN FOR UNDEAD CITY

Extremely bland, though functional. I can't tell if this is just an asset flip of some sort or not, because I know asset flips and the quality here feels a step up from shovelware asset flips. Guns have nice sounds and reload animations, but hit feedback is meh and there's nothing to do besides walk a LOT through a bland city shooting basic non-threatening zombies.

Maybe it was too early in development to release a demo, I think.
STAND IN FOR EXFIL

Couldn't find games.
