Another indie game that gets recommended quite a bit, cause it looks like a spiritual succesor to a really good game... only to end up being mediocre in every aspect.
Sadly, Blazing chrome takes a little bit too much of its inspiration instead of making a game that can stand on its own.

Why would you waste your time playing this when you can be playing Hard Corps right now?

They're vastly different games with completely different content. Hard Corps is also much easier with practice compared to HardCore in Blazing Chrome.

Of course they are different games, one is Blazing Chrome and the other one is Hard Corps. I disagree on the use of the word "Vastly" tho. What i'm complaining about is the heavy inspiration on Contra (Something that even you mention) while adding nothing interesting to the core gameplay design and not copying the good things of it's inspiration, and when it tries to change the formula a little bit, i don't think it does it in a better way that others run'n gun. (Blue and red robot, Pink whip, Setting, No lock or unique button for slide, No unique weapons or gimmick for characterization, No different routes for replayability, etc.).

I never mentioned the difficulty, and to be honest, i don't think you can compare them since the aproach to the difficulty is different. In C:HC, the game was designed with a certain difficulty in mind and his approach is more like and arcade-y game where, like you said, with enough practice you can easily beat it by finding the perfect character and route for you. Meanwhile in BC, HardCore is an unlockable and not the default difficulty, so the game has to be design around Normal since it's gonna be the first playtrough for everyone and it's a complete joke because of the unlimited continues and checkpoints. Once you play it in HardCore, the game just add more enemies for the same levels that you already played in Normal.
