picks female Sheppard
wants to romance a girl
ends up dating Garrus because he's so fucking adorable

Really great games with many amazing characters i love a ton. Wrex, Garrus, Legion and Mordin were my favorite by far.

It's one of those games i wish i could play blind again, i have the Legendary collection too but i'm not sure when, or if, i'll replay it. Not because the games might have aged badly, but because i KNOW i'll never be able to have the same experience that made it so special in the first place.

During my playthrough of ME1 i was going full paragon, as i usually do in "karma meter games" and didn't deviate from it because games usually punish you for not sticking to a color and reward you for consistensy. I think this is not good design for RPGS, this kind of meter should be hidden incentivizing picking what you REALLY want (think of the SMT alignment systems). And then something big happened near the end, got really pissed off and went renegade.

That was the point where i said "fuck it", and just started picking what i really wanted, i got into the character of my Sheppard resulting in a mix and match of options that turned into my own unique experience of the game. It wasn't a paragon or renegade playthrough, it was MY playthrough.

It was such an amazing playthrough that i still play "karma bar" games (and any rpg really) like this today, i encourage everyone suck in the metagaming like i was to try it. It's worth more than any dumb in game bonus bars can give you, and i mean it for any game like this.

As for the games themselves, yeah, they're not perfect. 1 is very janky, the Mako sucks ass, 2 is... i don't have anything bad to say about 2 honestly. 3 had the Sheppards talking on their own and forced PTSD about something i didn't give a shit about as a player wich was a big no no, and the way you get your ending sucks donkey balls (i tought the ending itself wasn't that bad).

In spite of those problems, it was such an enjoyable and important experience that i can't give it less than 5 stars.
