Pretty enjoyable time, it's especially great for it's characters and the plot was surprisingly fast-paced but the actual narrative isn't anything that complex but it works enough for what the game is going for. I really enjoyed the character of Ryuji, it's now my most favourite portrayel of him. The other playable characters aren't slouches either, Akiyama has always been fun and Kiryu has a different perspective to him since he's recognized as the legend he is.

Combat is definitely rough, comparing it to other 3rd person shooters makes it worse, but it's fine on it's own. I did enjoy most of the boss fights and almost all the special enemy types are fun to fight, but I really wish the game didn't stagger you on any single hit, it constantly happens and can get annoying quick. Another aspect that I think should've been worked on more, is making characters more unique, it's a shame how only one of the characters has the unique side dodge, it's super fun to do and is actually useful but I don't mind it too much either since the game has very generous dodge windows.

Two other aspects of the gameplay, I didn't like was how the crafting system worked, it really could've been smoothed out, it's annoying to constantly go through ten menu's just to upgrade one piece of equipment or gun. The other aspect is Subterranea, which are randomized dungeons, they're just boring since you go through the same sets of enemies in the same looking corridors, otherwise it's frustrating because of the combination of enemy types it throws at you.

I didn't expect the game to have such a good OST either, it's synth-electronic goodness.

In closing, I'd highly recommend it if you're a fan of the series. I do wish it wasn't stuck on the PS3, but emulating it didn't give me a bad experience either.
