Having finally abandoned much of its fantasy aspects, Wild Arms 3 is their most 'western' effort yet. Mirroring the style of Suikoden III in a way, the game takes a more active, cinematic approach to turn-based combat that feels more thematically appropriate but is too sluggish for its own good, despite the deep customization found in its mechanics. Wild Arms 3 surprisingly takes ideas from the old era of the late 80's/early 90's, emphasizing exploration while leaving players lost in its obscure progression and sheer difficulty.
