I don't think Metroidvanias are for me. The constant backtracking is extremely tedious and going through the same 3 areas gets a bit draining. On a more positive note, the game has a fantastic soundtrack (especially tallon overworld), The boss fights are very good for the most part, and the atmosphere is great. I would totally recommend these games for anyone who likes metroidvanias. Might pick these back up later on, maybe when prime 4 comes out.

If you got stuck on Prime/tired of its backtracking, I greatly recommend skipping to the second and third games of the trilogy, as the amount and length of backtracking gets seriously shortened and improved in design by each entry. Prime 2 has more of a Zelda dungeon-like design with you mostly only backtracking within individual areas instead of through the entire game world like in 1, and 3 is much more linear in structure and lets you park your gunship in different spots to make travelling much simpler and easier to understand. As a huge Metroid fan I can say that Prime 2 is easily the best in the trilogy and 3's the most accessible 👍
